Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Accounting and Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the accounting duties of a non-profit organization. This position requires a person with keen attention to detail and the ability and desire to multi-task and take on a wide range of responsibilities. Experience with Sage50 (Simply Accounting) is required and knowledge of Quickbooks is an asset. This person would oversee the yearly financial audit as well as provide guidance and support to the Finance and Administration Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Finance Coordinator to perform monthly bank reconciliations, track receivables, create invoices, process reimbursements and enter bi-weekly payroll
  • Follow up with partners, funders and government bodies to ensure payables and receivables are delivered in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and assist auditors with yearly financial audit
  • Assist with preparation of spreadsheets, and budgeting documents
  • Support the Finance Coordinator to maintain up-to-date and organized digital and paper files
  • Support the Finance Coordinator in arranging travel bookings and accommodations for staff and volunteers

Skills/experience

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge– ability to effectively analyze data using formulas and other functions
  • Experience with Sage 50 (Simply Accounting)
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks
  • Experience with bookkeeping processes and practices
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Experience providing support or oversight to another team member
  • Exceptional customer service skills and work well in a team environment
  • Bilingual, excellent knowledge of English, and proficiency in French
