The Sound of Democracy

Once again on Oct 14 Apathy is Boring proved to us that it can put on a hell of a show. “The Sound of Democracy :: La musique démocratique”, was a concert that fused musicians, NGOs and MPs all into a fun filled night.

The evening began with our host Pierre Landry – yes you read right; it’s the same Pierre Landry from CBC Daybreak – who kicked the night off by introducing the first act, Brie Neilson. After being serenaded, the crowd welcomed Sameer Muldeen from the Green Party and Justin Trudeau from the Liberals, both of whom came to show their support and share their aspirations and experiences of how and why they got involved in their community. It’s safe to say that they triggered a sense of unity amongst everyone there that night.

Having some of our local NGOs – Santropol Roulant, Rights & Democracy, Katimavik – gave everyone the perfect chance to learn about what they do and about volunteering opportunities.

The rest of the night featured our other artists like the lively and large Teen Sleuth as well as the captivating Darling DeMaes. The night ended with my personal favourites, NLX and Amanda Mabro, who both gave spell-binding performances. Hats off to everyone who helped piece this night together.
