Michael Lenczer
Michael Lenczner works at the crossroads of technology, media, and acivism. He is one of the co-founders of Île Sans Fil. During the last 8 years, he has been involved in various community organisations working with young mothers, seniors, and immigrant youth as well as with medical personnel helping them use new technologies. He has also worked in West Africa, in the field of international development, and gives talks on free infrastructure and the internet community across Canada, the U.S.A., and the UK.



Mackenzie Duncan
Mackenzie Duncan is a photographer, graphic designer & creative director of The Apathy is Boring Project. Raised in Yellowknife and on Vancouver Island, Mackenzie attended Vancouver Film School in the New Media Program where he graduated in 2001. In 2004 Mackenzie co-founded Apathy is Boring and was solely responsible for brand development of this successful not for profit project that aims to use art, media, and technology to re-engage youth in the democratic process. His publish credits include the Montreal Gazette, Muchmusic.ca, cbc.ca, and more.



Rachel Dhawan
Born and raised in a socially active immigrant household in Toronto, Rachel Dhawan has been fighting most of her life for human rights and anti-oppression through her NGO work and art practice. After completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia in Montreal, Rachel stayed on in Montreal as production manager for the Apathy Is Boring website, and to build her art practice and brazen, her silver jewellery business.  



 
 

Christelle Francois
Be the change” is her motto. She’s currently completing her BA at Concordia with a Specialization in Psychology and a minor in political science. She has played the role of an executive for Umoja, uniting different black associations on campus. She is also a selected member of the “Livelihood Project” which is dedicated to women and governance.  Most recently she has been helping with Desta, a youth outreach program which favors less fortunate parts of Montreal. Christelle is currently developing a program in Haiti which will utilize workshops to initiate economic development.  Being an avid advocate for awareness has propelled her to continuously seek knowledge and have fun while doing it.


Rachel Levine-Katz
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Rachel has been involved in community work for as long as she can remember. She attended Trent University as an undergraduate student, specializing in International Development and Women’s Studies. She recently completed a graduate degree in Community Economic Development at Concordia. She now calls Montreal home and for the past four years has brought her dedication, enthusiasm and experience to empowering and engaging diverse youth populations on and off the island. Currently, Rachel is working in the field of mental health, as a defense of rights advocate. In her spare time, she is an avid cyclist and lover of the outdoors, music and dance.
 

Marie-Claire Lynn
Marie-Claire Lynn is a young professional working in a Montreal telecommunication company that works with rural and remote communities (often aboriginal) to bridge the digital divide. Her interest in Apathy is Boring was peaked when completing her Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Cultural Studies, with a Minor in Political Science at Concordia University, where she concentrated her studies on youth, media and politics. In June 2009 Marie-Claire became a volunteer at AisB, helping to translate documents, attending various events and learning more about the organization. In February 2010 she joined the Board of Directors. Although she only recently became an involved youth, she has always believed that knowledge is power and that change starts with you.
 

Jared Friedman
Jared Friedman is a management consultant, specializing in corporate strategy and industry best practices. Currently living in Montreal, he has spent time living and working in 5 different provinces and territories, as well as the US. With a passion for politics and debate, he encourages everyone to be a part of the political discourse and to find their voice, no matter what the cause. Holding an Engineering degree and an MBA, he provides a unique perspective to the challenges of managing a non-profit organization.

 

David Prodan
David works in the field of community development for non-profits in downtown Edmonton. His work focuses on local actvism, food security, event production, mental health services, affordable housing and revitalization in distressed neighbourhoods. His volunteer efforts include producing indie music festival Heart of the City and DJing for community events and CJSR 88.5 FM at University of Alberta.
 

 

 

Jessica Nagy
Jessica is a chartered accountant who is a full-time lecturer at McGill University’s Faculty of Management in the undergraduate program and the program for Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy. Born and raised in Montreal, she is currently involved with the McGill Women’s Alumnae Association as well as serving as a mentor with Seize Your Future, an organization aimed at helping young women develop leadership skills.
 

 

Our History

On January 4th 2004 - when a public affairs minded dance choreographer from the Yukon, a filmmaker from Montreal, and a photographer / graphic designer from Vancouver island met at a party, the idea of Apathy is Boring was born.
