Kavinsky who? Here are the details about the legend and all the truth :
Considered by many as one of the most promising French touch artists, Kavinsky will play for the first time in Montréal on June 9th at the Academy Club.
While driving his Ferrari on France’s highways in 1986, Kavinsky died in a car crash. According to the legend, he then became a zombie taking his revenge on the dance floors. The legend stops here, although this parisian living dead phenomenon is now one of the new heroes of French electro ‘renaissance’. Affiliated to the Ed Banger family, his sound is somehow different, straight out from the 80s and characterized with ultra-kitsch Italian synthworks, reminiscent of Moroder. Somber tracks, explosive beats and a work mainly influenced by a childhood filled with video games and comic books come together to become the zombie’s dj’s musical universe.
In 2006, his first EP ‘Teddy Boy’ (under the label Record Makers) had a considerable success, especially with ‘Testarossa Autodrive’, a mix of Daft Punk, Miami Vice and Knight Rider, injected with a touch of 70s horror film hysteria. That mix was proclaimed best track of 2006 by Justice and was immediately remixed by Mr Oizo and SebastiAn. This year he will present us his second EP, ‘1986’ and to confirm his already growing success, the zombie knightrider will be showcased on the opening act of Daft Punk’s world tour.
