Youth on the Coast invites participation of a culturally diverse group of up to 50 young people ages 16 to 26 to spend time on the small island province of Prince Edward Island learning about coastal issues, sharing skills and perspectives and creating a series of video messages and a call to action for the CZC 2010 conference that will follow.
The forum will include a half day of formal presentations by young researchers.
Following the on-campus presentations, participants will move out to a beach front venue in South Rustico for a more free-flowing, experiential weekend program led by PEI youth, which will be designed to facilitate the sharing of information and skills; provide a framework and tools for collective knowledge building; and enable expression of what is important to the participants through the use of video.
A number of travel and registration subsidies will be available. Prospective participants are also encouraged to approach their own or other local organizations for sponsorship.
In advance of the forum, registered participants will be able to exchange ideas and information and make preparations through online engagement with forum leaders.
