Joakim will be in Montreal to perform an intense DJ set at Main Hall on May
4th. The timing could not be more perfect, considering that his last album,
Monsters & Silly Songs is on heavy rotation on many DJs playlists, all over
Montreal¹s night clubs.
 
Joakim is a DJ and producer, and one of the most prolific and creative in
the French electronic music scene at the moment. Since the age of six, he¹s
been taking piano lessons with Abdel Rahman El Bacha, the famous classically
trained pianist. He soon discovered the joy of the synthesizer after a
school buddy left his at home. In 2001, after experimental explorations, he
founded the Tiger Sushi label (home to K.I.M., Panico, Principles of
Geometry, Volga Select, and purveyor of many More God Dam Music (MGDM) and
Kill The DJ compilations). 2003 marked the year of his comeback on the
dancefloors with singles like ³Come Into My Kitchen² and ³Are You
Vegetarian²? from his album Fantômes. An daring album where 77 punk met
electro pop, funk, and all sorts of moody tones. Beetween the releases of
his two last album, Joakim did remixes for numerous international producer
(Tiga, Ivan Smagghe, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Tiefschwarz, Chateau Flight,
Fisherspooner, Max Berlin, Air, Annie...). With his latest album he delivers
another crossover of rock and electro and continues making feet move on
dance floors with titles like: ³I Wish You Were Gone²  and ³Lonely Hearts².
He recorded is last album with a live band consisting of Mark Kerr (drums),
Juan de Gullebon (bass), Maxime Delpierre (guitar), Nicolas (vocals, also
the singer of Poni Hoax) and Guillaume Tessier (with whom he also worked on
his new project Sister Klaus). ...). Need we say more? If ever you have any

The comeback of Joakim in Montreal will be celebrated with other local guest
