When: 06:13 PM April 26, 2008 to 06:13 PM April 28, 2008
Toronto-based Afrikan-Jamaican-Canadian dub poet, actor, and playwright d’bi.young.anitafrika leads a dub poetry workshop for Vancouver youth.
Set in an anti-oppression framework and using storytelling as art for social change, d’bi.young will engage youth in a two-day workshop culminating in a public performance. Much of d’bi.young’s work focuses on identity and esteem-building, while addressing inter-sectionality. Targeting high school and older youth (ages 14-21), these workshops will take race, class, gender, ability, language, culture, and sexuality into consideration. www.dbiyoung.net
