Ghost River Rediscovery is looking for 10 outstanding youth to participate in an international youth leadership program in Guyana and the surrounding Indigenous communities of Guyana. The Empowering Indigenous Youth Youth Leadership Program offers youth the opportunity to obtain international experience related to youth leadership development. This program, based on Aboriginal culture and traditions, exposes its participants to a variety of unique experiences.

The first two weeks will consist of an outdoor-based skill-building orientation in the Ghost River Wilderness Area of Alberta, Canada. The group will then depart for an exciting six week international exchange, in which they will have the opportunity to learn about the political and cultural history of Guyana, and travel across Guyana visiting diverse Indigenous communities. Youth will participate in traditional cultural activities as well as assist in community and youth development projects.

Eligibility:
• Open mind and heart
• Desire to travel
• Ability to live and work in a group setting
• Open to learning a new language
• Interest in advancing leadership skills
• Open to sharing culture in a group setting
• 18-28 years of age

Term:
• International Volunteer from June 18th 2007 to August 9th 2007

Your Contribution:
• Each participant is required to fundraise $3300+ Airfare and travel insurance (Fee includes transportation, food, accommodations, cultural workshops, outdoor leadership courses training.) Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Calgary.
