Call for Carbon Neutral Films!
Toronto, Canada, October 24th – 28th, 2007
Final deadline: June 29th, 2007

It is with great pleasure that the Planet in Focus International Environmental Film & Video Festival announces a special call for submissions to Carbon Neutral films in partnership with The Greencode Project!

Film productions are huge contributors to climate change through the release of greenhouse gases (GHGs), such as carbon dioxide from electricity required for lights, cameras and audio to craft services to transportation to promotional services releases GHGs into our atmosphere. For the first time, Planet in Focus wishes to recognize films that have chosen to go carbon neutral, make significant strides by choosing suppliers that offer less energy intensive options or have offset some or all of its carbon emissions through purchased carbon credits from energy efficient projects.

We all must take personal responsibility for our carbon emissions and strive to make every effort possible to reduce our carbon footprint. Because it is impossible to reduce our carbon emissions to zero, going carbon neutral by purchasing carbon offsets is a realistic and affordable way to limit emissions. Planet in Focus, like a growing number of organizations and businesses, is of the belief that carbon neutral productions can become standard practice in the movie making process and we want to support filmmakers who are at the forefront of this new and vital practice. For more information on how you can reduce your carbon footprint on your next production, please visit greencodeproject.org

If your film production made strides to reduce carbon emissions, we want to hear from you!
