Apathy is Boring’s mandate has always been to use art, media and technology to encourage active citizenry and to educate a broad demographic of youth about the importance of being involved in their communities and the democratic process.  With this in mind, AisB, with online media partner Dose.ca and partner Crawler.com, is launching the second in a series of contests using art and media to express opinions on issues of Canadian democracy, participation and civic engagement.

The Contest: Any Canadian between the ages of 18-35 is invited to create and submit an original image to be used as desktop wallpaper. All submissions are to be suitable for all ages and respect all copyright and intellectual property right laws. Submissions are to be received by midnight November 2 2007. Submissions MUST:

-    Address one or more of the following themes: “Why Voting Matters”; “Art & Democracy”; “What Democracy Means to You”
-    Incorporate the Apathy is Boring logo and the Dose.ca logo

How to enter: Sign up for a user profile on www.apathyisboring.com and when your entry is complete (see above guidelines), e-mail it to info@apathyisboring.com 

Specs: The image must be 1024 x 768, 72 dpi in jpg format. Submissions should be between 200 and 250kB.

Judging: The submissions will be judged by a team appointed by Apathy is Boring and 5 finalists will be selected. The finalists’ submissions will be posted on www.apathyisboring.com, where users will vote for their favorites. The top three will receive prizes. Entries will be judged on how well they represent the theme, their originality, and user functionality.

The Goods: Winning participants will walk away with cash prizes provided by Crawler.com, an iPod and other swag courtesy of Dose.ca, concert tickets, exclusive music, cool Apathy is Boring gear and the pride of having their wallpaper available for download on the Apathy is Boring and Crawler.com websites.
