What music are you listening to / art are you checking out these days?
Art -wise, I know this is so commercialized but I'm looking forward to July 4th 'cause that Transformers movie looks so ill! I come from a digital/3D Animation background. I'm a true artist in every sense of the word so the previews I've seen have got me hyped over that for real! Music-wise, I am busy recording a lot of new material so I hardly have anytime to listen to anything but my own joints. I'm either writing, recording, mixing and editing my songs or following up with a mastering engineer to tweak something to make sure it bangs!

Plus, I like to be in my own zone when I am creating so I'll listen to my current album, V.I.A.L.E.N.C.E. to stay close to what's true to me and reduce outside influences because I am really concerned with doing things differently.
Why should people, especially youth, vote?
It's so important to understand the issues that face you as a young individual. Like I expressed on "Can't Wait" from my album, there are great numbers of young people in Canada a lot of whom are "at risk" and electoral issues often center around what politicians are going to do to help these youth, and youth in general grow to be educated, healthy and productive citizens.
We as young people have to recognize the power of our collective voice. We are the future of this world and after the adults are gone, what they leave behind, we'll have to take charge of. So why not speak via our vote and have a say in what will be left for us? Is it going to be a healthy balanced society that maintains some sort of humanity or will it be a commerce-driven society that sees its citizens as little more than raw material to be exploited for political and monetary gain?
Through understanding our issues, the issues of our community and the overall issues of the country and then exercising our right to vote by choosing someone who fits closely to our core values; we really have an opportunity to shape what the future will be.
For you, is there a connection between art and democracy? What is it?
Yes, this would probably be considered arguable, but art to me is a bi-product of democracy and differently, I feel it is a bi-product of all forms of government. There will always be art and artists and there will always be forms of government and social order. The art we artists create is shaped by our social condition and the form of government you live under has a direct impact on your social condition.
Why do you care about community, when it is so easy not to?
It could be the way I was raised coming from a West Indian heritage. In Barbados, the condition of the community and how those within and outside of the community affect it on a day-to-day is always up for discussion and debate. So coming from that sort of background where the issues of the community are expressed in the household, the music and at the rum shop. I think it's sort of in my blood to be like this.
Furthermore, I have a genuine concern for my fellow man especially inner city youth who are growing up just like I grew up. I've already navigated that treacherous path plus, I've looked the threat of death in the face and overcome that. So I have been fortunate enough to overcome these obstacles. While I am far from where I envision myself to be, I think it's only right I share my story, experiences and ideas. I do this as a way to show others what's out there and how you can overcome just about anything once you set goals and seek to achieve them.
What do you look for in a politician? What do you expect from your MP?
I look for someone who understands my community and in essence understands me and what's important to people like me. I look for a person who shows a genuine willingness to want to help his fellow man with the position they seek to attain. It's so easy to read a fake individual who is all pre-written rhetoric vs. a real person who cares to elevate the quality of life for his fellow man.
I expect my Members of Parliament to set realistic goals they are actually willing to achieve and I expect them to then deliver. The reason I say realistic is Rome wasn't built in a day so be real when you get up there and start making promises. Real recognize real.
