Why should people, especially youth, vote?

Why vote? Because regardless of how cynical, opportunistic, sycophantic, butt-licking and fearful a great many of politicians can be, there is always a field of folks who get involved in electoral politics for the good ol' causes of representation. Even when not elected, these worldly and future-minded individuals affect the body politic intensely. By merely seeking these people out, you become better educated and connected to your world. Occasionally, they do get elected and you get to hear television and papers say things about them which you already know to be lies, thus improving your understanding of how completely full of shit mainstream media tends to be. It’s definitely a win-win situation.

For you, is there a connection between music and democracy? What is it?

Since the beginning of time, people have used words, melody, stones, wood and strings to relate their condition: “ Hey, the sun is warm,”  “ Hey, I am going to die breaking rocks on this line,” “ Hey, I love you,”  “ Hey God, Bossman , slavedriver- I exist,”  “ Hey Ho! Lets Go!”.   It continues.    

Why do you care about community, when it is so easy not to?

Community makes all kinds of actions possible- like raising a barn or having a rock band for instance. Collective witnessing is also a basic need of most animals I know, not to mention humans. Hence “Hey Ho! Let’s Go!”,  etc.
 
It is hard to keep community intact when you are overly concerned with your own survival. This can be caused by climactic conditions, neighbourhood bullies, or deep institutionalized lies that have courts for some crimes, and no courts for others.  None the less, exclusivity sucks on every level, and you got to keep trust intact.

What do you look for in a politician? What do you expect from your MP?

I look for someone who doesn’t personalize everything, who views life beyond partisanship and agenda. I expect my MP to perform the dutiful role of public servant as accepted, and to be a steward of public trust.
