by Apathy is Boring — November 25, 2008
Name: Parti Républicain du Québec (Republican Party of Quebec)
Leader: Gilles Paquette
Official Representative: François Robert Lemire
History:
Originally established with the intention of obtaining Quebec’s independence from Canada, the PRQ was created by Marcel Chaput in 1962, one of the founders of the Rassamblement pour L’independence nationale. The PRQ quickly found themselves with financial problems, folding in 1964, the same time as Rassamblement pour L’independence nationale moved from a political movement to a political party (later becoming part of Quebec Solidaire).
