How To: Vote in Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Elections
by Apathy is Boring — September 8, 2011

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians - duty is calling. An election is your chance to make your voice heard. Is it your first time? Don't be nervous. Just follow this step-by-step guide and cast your ballot like a pro.
- 18 years of age or older on election day;
- A Canadian citizen;
- A permanent resident of Newfoundland or Labrador (you're still eligible if you're temporarily living outside of the province).
- Register at the polls. You can register when you show up to vote on election day or an advance polling day. To register at the polls, bring ID that has your name, signature, and current address.
- Register in advance. You can also register before the writ drops (September 19) by contacting Elections Newfoundland and Labrador. The application to be added to the voter's list is available on their website.
- If you're going to school in the province, where you vote depends on your plans after graduation. If you plan to move back home after graduating studies, you should vote in your home riding. If you don't plan to return home, or if you aren't sure where you'll go after graduating, you should vote in the riding where you currently live.
- If you're going to school outside of Newfoundland and Labrador, you can vote by mail by requesting a special ballot.
