Picturing Youth Engagement

“[Youth] engagement is the opportunity to grow through meaningful interaction…..toward a common goal. This ongoing process…….leads to empowerment.”  Loiselle, Elicia. To Define or Not Define … definition of youth engagement. 2002. The Center of Excellence for Youth Engagement.

Great definition, isn’t it?

But what does youth engagement really mean? More importantly, what does engagement mean to you?

Beginning in May and running until the end of June, the CYC in partnership with Apathy is Boring (www.apathyisboring.com) is holding a photo contest asking youth to Picture Youth Engagement!

Submit a photo of a word or sentence that represents youth engagement. Check out our Photo Gallery for some examples of pictures we took.

The more original and creative, the better!

Photo entries which comply with the guidelines will be displayed and credited on the CYC forum and on Apthyisboring.com. All applicants must also sign up for an online profile at Apathyisboring.com in order to enter. Once all entries are reviewed by the judges, winners will be chosen based on creativity, composition, and the picture’s relevancy to youth engagement.  The grand prize winner and two second prize winners will be announced July 4th, 2008.

Winners will receive the following prizes:
One grand prize winner will receive a Portable DVD player
Two second prize winners will receive an Apathy is Boring prize pack
