Lieutenant-Governor's term extended in N.B.
Ottawa -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper has extended the term of New Brunswick Lieutenant-Governor Herménégilde Chiasson to Sept. 30, 2009.The Prime Minister says the Lieutenant-Governor now will be able to play a role in the World Acadian Congress, which is being held in New Brunswick in August, 2009.
Mr. Chiasson is a well-known academic, author and patron of the arts. When he was appointed to the post in 2003, he was teaching at the University of Moncton. During his career as a poet, playwright and director, he also worked at Radio-Canada.
