Liberals select candidates to run in Quebec ridings
Montreal -- The federal Liberals announced yesterday that lawyer Jean Caumartin will be their party's candidate in an coming by-election east of Montreal.Voters in St-Hyacinthe-Bagot will head to the polls next month to elect a replacement for Bloc Québécois MP Yvan Loubier. Aside from the Liberals, the Bloc is the only other party to declare its candidate - Eve-Mary Thai Thi Lac.
The Liberals also announced yesterday that businesswoman Louise Bélanger will run in Roberval-Lac-Saint-Jean, about 250 kilometres north of Quebec City. That by-election has not been called yet.
