The Decline of Public Discussion

What do the G8/G20 meetings and the recent controversy over the long-form census have in common? The answer, I would suggest, is that aspects of both have contributed to a decline in the role of public discussion, which I would nominate as the most important “game-changing” event in Canada in the first half of 2010.
