First Peoples National Party of Canada
Leader: Barbara Wardlaw (interim)
http://www.fpnpoc.ca/| Environment | The First Nations have always lived in harmony with the environment. Nonetheless the government and environmental groups have come into conflict with First Nations people by trying to restrict access to lands and resources. The First Peoples National Party believes in sustainable economic development that will benefit communities and the environment. Industrial pollution, over-harvesting and the destruction of habitats as old as the world itself is criminal. Deforestation and large-scale commercial farming of monocultures to monopolize arable spaces continues. |
| Taxation | First Nations People are exempt from paying taxes. Nonetheless First Nations Governments should have the ability to levy taxes in their own jurisdictions on non-citizens and corporations that conduct business on their territory. First Nations Governments should have the ability to levy taxes directly on their territory. |

| Seniors/Low Income | The FPNP supports low-income workers and advocates decreasing the retiring age for workers in physically demanding fields without penalties on retirement. |
| Health Care | The FPNP believes in Universal Health Care as well access to quality health services. At the same time FPNP believes that education is a key to improving health care. Promoting healthy habits in communities will help reduce the stress on the system. |
| Post Secondary Education | The future of the country lies in training and education. The FPNP believes that the economic success of the country is directly linked to Post Secondary education. Post Secondary education must be supported by the government. |
| Child Care | Day care is a prerequisite to curb child poverty. The FPNP is worried about the cutbacks in social areas which affect affordable day care programs, and asks the government to create more subsidized day care spaces. |
| Immigration | No Official Position |
| International Policy | The FPNP see globalization as a threat to the treaties they signed with the Government. The authority of the state has decreased in favour of international institutions like the IMF or WTO. The FPNP asks the government to respect the treaties signed with the First Nations and respect basic human rights. |
| Democratic Reform | The First Nations believe that Canada must take serious steps to address the democratic deficit. Canada must move to a proportional representation system as well as creating fully autonomous First Nations Government: First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. |
