Montreal has an abundance of talented, dedicated, competent and open-minded young people who want to make a real contribution to their neighbourhood and city. Montreal’s 375th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to give them a voice, listen to their ideas and discover what they think a Young Montreal is all about. It also gives us a chance to talk to them about the City of Montreal’s priority issues, such as youth engagement in municipal democracy and their commitment to living together in harmony.

The proposed project aims to introduce young role models from the 19 boroughs and to help them make connections in order to encourage them to reflect together and share best practices. The project also intends to mobilize and gather ideas from the City’s young people and youth organizations for the 375th Youth Summit in the spring of 2017, which will be a springboard for shaping Montreal into a youthful city.

#YOUTH375MTL’s expected outcomes are to select 19 young ambassadors from each one of Montreal’s boroughs, consult with young people across the area for six months, share project ideas and best practices with youth organizations in Québec, in Canada and around the world and help organize a 375th Youth Summit that will bring together 375 young people and 25 children who will act as a bridge to Montreal’s 400th anniversary.
