I care about politics and wanted mentorship/networks.
To gain an understanding and appreciation of the community around me, and feel a sense of belonging as well as be a model member of society that supports and empathizes with the community. In order to bring solutions and unite people, I wish to better understand their needs and learn about their history as a first generation immigrant.
I joined RISE so I could learn. I always knew I was passionate about certain issues and wanted to create a more equitable space in Toronto but didn't know how. When the flyer for RISE popped up, I knew this was the perfect opportunity for me.
I joined RISE to empower both myself and my local community. I hope to develop my abilities in community organizing and expand and diversify the conversations, principles, and ideologies I am exposed to. I intend to learn from those around me, whether it be cohort peers, mentors, or community members; lived experience is a powerful source of knowledge and I aspire to listen to, learn from, and support others.
I have struggled with addiction issues since youth, and I have a sincere desire to be of service and make a difference in my community
I joined RISE to become more involved in my community. In the past Ontario municipal election, the voter turnout was the lowest in history due to the apathy people experience by feeling disconnected from their communities. This program will allow me to connect with like-minded individuals to share our experiences and ideas to improve the quality of life of the people of Toronto and bring people together to form a stronger community.
It is important for cities to ensure that all people, including the city's most vulnerable communities, feel safe. I joined RISE to collectively contribute to making our city resilient and develop important skills. Most importantly, I am excited to meet like-minded individuals who are just as passionate about taking the next step to strengthen our community.
A social event that will connect youth in the GTA, who are struggling to access resources to meet their basic needs, to “Guides”, who will share their lived experience to help connect these youths with accessible resources.
