What is Net-Zero and You(th)?
As a part of this program, we're offering a free, 3-part workshop series (2-hour long sessions lasting 3 consecutive weeks). There will be four editions of these workshops, addressing the context of four provinces in Canada: Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
Participants will meet other youth interested in the environment and democracy, develop a foundation for understanding net zero, learn how to effectively tell net zero stories about their own experiences, and build specific skills for connecting with climate organizations.
Workshop Breakdown
Week 1 - Planting the Seed: We'll get to know each other, and familiarize ourselves with key concepts around the net zero movement, what Canada's net zero goals are, and how this relates to democracy.
Week 2 - Rooting Your Place in Stories: We'll reflect on our experiences with storytelling, and practice skills in effective storytelling and deep listening.
Week 3 - Growing Your Voice: We'll participate in activities to practice skills from previous weeks, brainstorm on next steps, and connect with and learn about other climate organizations.
At the end of the program youth will receive a Certificate of Completion: "Storytelling for Net-Zero".
Who is Net Zero & You(th) for?
Youth who:
- Are between the ages 18-30
- Are not familiar with the net-zero movement, but would like to learn more
- Do not have climate action or organizing experience
