Apathy is Boring is a national, youth-led organization that works to empower and support young people to get involved in their communities and cities.
Our RISE program is designed for young people with little or no previous experience in volunteering. Over the course of 22 weeks, our RISE Ambassadors will build skills and collaborate with others to build a community project in their city. RISE is currently offered in the cities of Montreal, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg & Halifax.
Take a look at our RISE page to see what projects our current groups of ambassadors are working on in their respective cities.

Our 2020 Theme: Gender Equality
The theme for the next group of RISE Ambassadors will be Gender Equality. For us, gender equality is about understanding and working to remove the barriers faced by folks with marginalized gender identities (i.e. two-spirit, trans, non-binary, women, etc). We understand gender as a spectrum and recognize all expressions within it taking into account the diverse lived experiences of discrimination and oppression informed by various other identities (i.e. race, class, ability, etc). Working towards Gender Equality involves the engagement of all genders and allies, and you don’t need to be an expert in the topic already, all are welcomed to apply. You just have to be open to learning!
The RISE program will run for 22 weeks from January 20th, 2020 to June 12th, 2020. Youth ambassadors have to commit 6 hours a week. There is also a mandatory 4-day retreat to attend between February 7th and February 10th, 2020. All expenses are paid. Ambassadors from across Canada will come together to meet each other, build skills and get inspiration for their projects.
