As an organization focused on engaging young people in democracy, it’s impossible to ignore what’s happening all around us right now: foreign interference, mis- and disinformation, and the growing role social media algorithms are playing in shaping what we see, trust, and believe.

At AisB, we see this moment as a call to action. And we’re committed to doing our part to help protect democracy here at home.

So, why does this matter? And why now?

Because threats to Canadian sovereignty (as in our ability to operate independently as a country) should be taken seriously.
Because many young people in Canada get their news through social media platforms largely owned & operated outside of Canada.
Because no one is immune to influence, especially when it’s repetitive and subtle.

With all this said, our goal is simple: to translate complex research into accessible, youth-friendly content, and to support a healthier, more resilient democracy along the way.
