I joined RISE because i love my community and want to see it grow and thrive, from small to big any sort of movement of positivity in the community shows itself big ways!

I am Hana and I joined RISE because I wanted to do something real instead of just complaining about problems. I live in Edmonton and see stuff in my community that could be better, but I didn’t know how to start. RISE gives me a budget, training, and people to figure it out with. I’m here to learn practical skills and actually follow through on an idea I care about!

I have always had a passion for helping my community and getting involved in issues that resonate with me. RISE is an amazing opportunity to work alongside likeminded folks to work towards a common goal of creating a difference among youth in our city and across Canada.

I joined RISE because I think engagement in civil society starts with building community and strengthening relationships. I have seen the impact of engaging with youth, creating excitement for advocacy and change, and being part of this program will let me learn about engagement and community-building initiatives, as well as share my skills for a greater cause.

I joined RISE because I care about youth voices and representation in my community. I’m drawn to understanding, highlighting, and empowering diverse experiences and perspectives. RISE gives me the opportunity to use that passion to create change by learning from others and turning ideas into action.

When I came across the RISE program, it felt like the perfect opportunity for me to be able to engage with, and contribute to, the community in a meaningful way. It is something I have always wanted to do, but it was overwhelming figuring out where to begin.
I love what the RISE program and Apathy is Boring stand for, and I’m really excited to be a part of this!

I joined RISE because I want to grow as a leader, meet other young people who want to make a difference, and learn how to create positive change in my community. I'm excited to develop new skills, work on meaningful projects, and connect with people from different backgrounds across Canada.

I joined RISE because it was everything I was passionate about: engaging with one’s local community through arts and culture, and increasing awareness for young people about the power your experience and voice holds. It’s easy to get desensitized to bad news, but there is so much we can do as individuals. As a recent Sociology graduate, I’m eager to work with my peers and larger society to create something up lifting and impactful!

I joined RISE because it is a gateway for personal growth through learning how to collaborate with others in spearheading initiatives. By providing tools that enhance project management, planning, and other essential skills, we are equipped to take action in each of our communities. There are so many issues out there I want to address but didn't know how to (especially on my own), so it is the perfect program to do so while making friendships along the way!
