I joined RISE to help break down the barriers that prevent young people from engaging in their communities. Many want to participate but feel unheard or unsure where to start. Through this program, I hope to amplify their voices, foster meaningful conversations, and create real solutions that make civic engagement more accessible. RISE offers the platform and resources to turn ideas into action, ensuring that all youth have the opportunity to shape the future.
I wanted to learn how to create projects that would help my community and be involved in civic engagement.
I chose to volunteer with AisB to create tangible, local impact in my community by addressing interconnected issues of food security, climate change, and social justice. I believe everyone deserves access to healthy food and a sustainable environment, regardless of income or background. Through education, hands-on action, and community engagement, I aim to empower others to reduce waste, grow their own food, and take part in building a more equitable and climate-resilient future for all.
I joined RISE because I wanted to highlight community members that already do incredible work in our city! Bring awareness and attention to the disconnect young people feel in their communities and hopefully empower them to create and find spaces to come together.
I joined RISE in hopes of seeing how differing perspectives in youth civic engagement positively play a role in collaboration and co-creating change at a local, provincial, and national level. Accessibility and awareness of issues in the community remain scarce and disproportionately affect disadvantaged groups. Not only do I want to spotlight other individuals’ voices on prevalent issues that are affected by these problems, but also recognize and cherish the power of mine.
I joined RISE to become a more active part of my community. I wanted to learn how to be more involved, along with get to know peers in my community. RISE is a great program to find out about causes and learn ways to be more active in supporting these causes.
RISE provides me with an opportunity to build on skills that will help me better understand, engage, and thrive with my community. And now more than ever, community is what people need.
